We went to Sami's New School today for orientation. Got her school schedule and she is all honors class's. Basically since Sami started school she has always been categorized as Gifted. She still is. So we had to go meet her teachers after this big long speech on what they expect. Come to find out because she was tested last year and when we received her test scores and spoke with her Gifted/Talented Teaching Staff it meant that Sami scores were post High School! Yeah, she is doing College work. So this year she is in 7th grade but will be in most High School class's! I looked at her and said "are you OK with this?" She say's "yes" but I worry it might be to much for her. She gets overwhelmed if she feels disorganized or has so much work to do. So we will see how it goes and if I feel she is pushing herself to hard I will request a class change. She is also going to a Jr/Sr High School! Yeah, she is starting to make me feel old. We also set up her new locker. That was really neat for her plus all her friends are on both sides of her so she was happy. She has A/B days. Meaning like on Mon-Wen-Fri is A class's. Then B days is Tues-Thurs plus everyday they have a homeroom class or as they call it Attending class that they attend for studying and getting homework done. Her class's are between 90 mins long to 2 hours long. She has depending on the day. She has 8 different teachers! Welcome to the Big Girl Schools Sami. All her friends seen her when we walked in and started screaming because they didn't know she was coming back to Lackland this year. Yeah, Chris and I and the kids got ditched! She was too cool to hang with us. She made sure to let us know not to embarrass her too. Oh well, they have to grow up sometime.
